I find myself in one of the most exciting of spaces: the modern African culinary movement, heralded by a new generation of young Africans. For us, it is a space in which we can explore and negotiate various aspects of our identities, with food as a lens.
The goal of Modern African Table is to demystify the underrepresented cuisines of Africa, beginning first with my country of origin, Kenya. My mission is to contribute to a much broader conversation on the scholarship of African cuisines and to help redefine African foodways in an ever-changing world.
